Use Stupid Parry as an enemy's attack connects. Against a yellow Heat Attack, a correctly timed Stupid Parry triggers Stupid Impact, stunning the enemy and exposing its core for Bite. Red flashing attacks require a different response: do not try to solve them with the same parry sequence.
The important follow-up is healing. Stupid Parry can turn damage into recoverable damage; Bite lets Davy reclaim it. Repeatedly parrying without using Bite leaves that recovery unfinished.
Practice the yellow attack sequence
- Keep the attacking enemy visible and identify the yellow Heat Attack warning.
- Use the Stupid Parry command shown in your current controls as the hit arrives. The warning signals an incoming attack; it is not a reason to press immediately regardless of distance.
- Confirm that Stupid Impact has stunned the enemy and exposed its core.
- Move close enough to the exposed core and use Bite while you have Bite Gauge available.
- Check your health and the target you actually bit before resuming your attacks.

The core is the goal of the sequence, rather than an optional flourish. Biting enemies can restore recoverable damage, and eating the appropriate core can also grant a combat reward. Elite cores are associated with Styles; weaker enemy cores can supply single-use Instant Skills.
Separate recoverable damage from safety
Stupid Parry reduces the immediate danger of a hit, but it does not remove the need to recover afterward. Recoverable damage can become real damage if you leave it unresolved. A red Overheat Attack also breaks the assumption that you can handle every incoming strike by parrying it.
Avoid treating a successful parry as permission to stand in a crowd indefinitely. Find the core, take the Bite opportunity and reassess the enemies still attacking you.
Correct a failed follow-up
- No core opportunity: check whether the attack was a yellow Heat Attack and whether the counter actually connected.
- Bite hits another enemy: change your position relative to the exposed core before trying again. Nearby enemies can interfere with the intended target.
- You still have recoverable damage: confirm that you landed a healing Bite rather than assuming the parry itself restored health.
- The enemy moves off-screen: manually adjust the camera. Combat Camera Assist can help follow combat, but it does not guarantee your counter or Bite selects the intended target.
Button bindings depend on your input setup. Use the in-game controls for the assigned command rather than applying a controller button from a different platform.
