How to Beat Wyvern

Quick Answer

Target the Wyvern's head until it falls to the ground. Use its tornado to reach its height, avoid fire attacks, then spend your strongest attacks during the grounded opening. Harpy flight or a Missile Pod also help against the airborne boss.

Target the Wyvern’s head and keep damaging it until the boss falls to the ground. Use its tornado to reach its height, then spend your strongest available attacks during the grounded opening. Harpy flight and a Missile Pod are alternative ways to reach or attack the airborne boss; no single Style is required.

The fight is about creating a reliable attack angle while surviving fire. Being lifted into the air does not mean your next attack is already in range.

Use the tornado to reach its head

  1. Keep the Wyvern visible and watch for the tornado it creates.
  2. Enter the air current to rise close to the flying boss.
  3. Line Davy up with its head before committing to an attack.
  4. Continue damaging the head until the Wyvern drops to the ground.
  5. Use the grounded window for your available Style Skill, OT attacks and other damage.
  6. Reposition when it takes flight again, then repeat the approach.

Aerial positioning matters. If an attack passes above, below or beside the boss, adjust your height and distance instead of spending the entire opening repeating the same input. The camera keeping the Wyvern in view is not a guarantee that Davy is facing it or that his attack reaches it.

Avoid fire without trusting every rock

The Wyvern attacks with fire from the air and can spread flames across the ground. Keep moving when fireballs are coming toward you, and move clear of burning ground instead of remaining underneath the boss to attack.

Rocks and pillars can provide cover, but they are not permanent protection. Some powerful fire attacks can destroy the obstacle itself. If the cover breaks or the attack reaches around it, change position rather than treating the same spot as a safe zone.

Red attack warnings are another reason to disengage. Do not use the ordinary Stupid Parry response as a universal answer to an unblockable attack.

Choose a way to reach the airborne boss

Available optionHow it helps
Tornado liftBrings Davy close enough to attack the head from the air
Harpy StyleLets you fly and fight above flames spreading across the floor
Missile Pod OT GearProvides a way to target the Wyvern from the ground

Use the options you have actually acquired and equipped. You do not need to abandon a workable setup just because another player used a different monster form. The important comparison is whether your current attacks can reach the head reliably.

Spend the knockdown on damage

Once the Wyvern falls, close the distance and use attacks that were difficult to land while it was flying. This is the strongest opening for an available Style Skill or OT attack. If Davy Burst is ready, its temporary attack and defense increase can also support the damage window.

There is no verified universal number of hits, required minimum level or guaranteed one-cycle setup here. Judge the attempt by whether your attacks connect and how much time remains.

If you keep reaching the boss with too little time, improve your approach through the dungeon. Use mall upgrades and equipped gear before the next dive, and avoid spending the full timer on optional encounters when your goal is another boss attempt.
