Get monster cores by defeating an appropriate enemy and biting the core it leaves, or by exposing a core through a successful Stupid Impact against a yellow Heat Attack. For a transformation, target an elite enemy. Weak enemies and bosses provide different rewards when bitten.
Obtain a core through combat
- Identify the enemy whose ability you want. An elite is the target for a new Style.
- Build Bite resources through fighting; melee attacks fill the Bite Gauge.
- Defeat the enemy and approach the available core, or counter its yellow Heat Attack with Stupid Parry to create a Stupid Impact opening.
- Face the exposed core and use Bite while the opportunity is available.
- Inspect the offered Style before choosing whether to acquire it.

Know which reward you are collecting
| Target | What its core is used for |
|---|---|
| Weak enemy | A one-use Instant Skill |
| Elite enemy | A monster Style and its associated abilities |
| Boss | A Boss Receipt associated with special Bessie Burger dishes |
Not every Bite turns Davy into a monster. First check the enemy category if you keep receiving one-use abilities instead of the transformation you expected.
Avoid wasting the opening
Bite needs an available gauge charge. Prepare it before trying to capitalize on an exposed core. In a crowded fight, make sure Davy is facing the intended target; another nearby enemy can interfere with the action you meant to perform.
A new core from the same monster type can offer a different Style Skill. Compare the actual card before replacing a transformation that is already working for your current route.
