You cannot activate a conventional manual lock-on in Stupid Never Dies. There is no confirmed button that pins an enemy as a persistent selected target. Combat Camera Assist is the available camera aid, and it should not be confused with a hard target lock.
Use camera assistance for tracking
Combat Camera Assist can rotate the view toward the enemy you are fighting. It helps keep combat in view, particularly around elite enemies and bosses, but you may still need to turn the camera yourself.
The option is in the in-game menu's Accessibility tab. Switch it on if manually managing the view is making it difficult to follow a fight. This changes camera assistance; it does not add a separate manual target-selection command.

Why the camera can stop following
The automatic tracking is limited. Moving too far from an enemy can break the soft camera attachment, so the view should not be expected to remain fixed on a boss throughout a retreat or a large reposition.
Keep the distinction between these three things clear:
| Behavior | What it means |
|---|---|
| Camera rotates toward combat | Camera assistance is helping frame the fight |
| Davy faces an enemy | His current orientation is toward that enemy |
| An attack connects | The attack reaches a valid target |
The first does not guarantee the other two. A visible enemy can still be beyond an attack's reach or at the wrong height.
Fighting without a hard target lock
Before committing to a directional attack, line Davy up with the target and check the space between them. This matters for projectiles that travel ahead of him and for aerial targets whose height differs from his.
In crowded fights, a Bite can also select a nearby enemy instead of the exposed core you intended to consume. Camera assistance does not eliminate that target-selection problem. Approach the intended target with a clear position rather than assuming an on-screen enemy has become permanently locked.
