Health draining when the dungeon timer runs out is part of the time-limit danger in Stupid Never Dies. Davy becomes extremely vulnerable after the allotted time expires. Do not treat that state alone as proof of a poison effect, a broken health upgrade or a save problem.
The useful response is to prevent another expired-timer attempt: watch Ticktock Teddy, use genuine time rewards and reach a Landing Area while you still have room to choose your next move.
Check the timer alongside your health
Look at the dungeon countdown when the draining begins. If it has reached zero, that is the first mechanic to account for. An enemy hit or a separate status effect can still cause damage during a run, so health loss before zero needs its own explanation.

This distinction matters because ordinary healing does not establish that the dungeon's time allowance has been restored. Keep your attention on the timer itself rather than only recovering HP and continuing the same route.
Reduce the chance of another expiry
- Stop at Landing Areas, where the countdown pauses, and decide your next destination there.
- Pick up available time rewards and look for layer completion Time Boosts.
- Check the mall's permanent timer upgrade when Mino's Ice Cream becomes available.
- Avoid spending your remaining allowance on every optional enemy if your goal is to reach a deeper checkpoint.
- Consider returning from a Landing Area when the next stretch is unlikely to fit your remaining time.
No single starting duration or exact health-drain rate is assumed here. Judge the current run from its HUD and the upgrades you actually own.
A failed dive still contributes to growth
Returning to level 1 on the next dive is normal. Defeating enemies improves your later level-up speed even if you fall before completing your objective, and mall ability upgrades remain permanent. That continuing growth does not make every item collected during an unsuccessful stretch safe to keep, so read the return or exit warning before confirming it.
